How it works

This estimator prices installed ICF walls (forms, steel, bracing, concrete and labour) at our 2026 Ontario ranges: $42 to $55 per sq ft of wall below grade, $42 to $52 above grade, $55 to $75 for pools and $48 to $62 for retaining walls. It also shows the forms-only cost and the concrete you will need, and compares the walls with a conventional build where that makes sense. Building your own home? How the Estimate Works

We work out the wall area from your dimensions: the perimeter times the wall height, less a share for openings above grade. Then we apply our 2026 installed price ranges. The forms-only number uses current Ontario form prices by core width, and the concrete is the wall volume plus 5%.

What is not included

Questions We Get

How accurate is the ICF cost estimator?+

It gives a planning range based on 2026 Ontario prices. Real projects vary with design complexity, openings, access, soil, season and site, so use it to budget and then get a quote from drawings.

Does the estimate include the foundation footings and slab?+

No. It covers the ICF walls only. Footings, slab, excavation, waterproofing and backfill are extra; our foundation guide gives typical totals.

What is the cost of ICF per square foot of wall in Ontario?+

About $42 to $55 per square foot of wall below grade and $42 to $52 above grade in 2026, installed. Forms alone are about $7.50 to $11 per square foot.

Can I use the estimator for a garage or a pool?+

Yes. Choose garage or pool. Garage walls include a frost wall in the height, and pool walls use the higher pool rate because of the extra steel and waterproofing.
